Piper Reed: Navy Brat by Kimberly Willis Holt


Piper, a fourth grader, is the middle child of the girls in the Reed household. She loves the fact that her father is in the Navy. She gets upset with her sisters because they actually refer to him as Dad, not Chief. As in all military families, moving is a part of their life. This time they are moving from San Diego to Pensacola. Piper’s older sister Tori thinks the Navy is ruining her life, and her younger sister Sam is a genius. Piper who loves the Navy life and has dyslexia sometimes feels that she doesn’t fit. Despite all the differences there is plenty of love in this family.

    I liked this book because it was funny.At the end it kind of made me sad when their dad was leving.

    I liked this book because I liked how her dad would always make lists. I also liked that her sisters pretended to be gypsys. I also liked that she gave the dog a funny nae.

    I looooove the Piper reed books but this one was my favorite so far. I know how life can be tricky (I have 2 brothers)but I live through it just like Piper reed.

    I really liked this book because it is like the 2 verson of Where I Live because it is both about a girl who has to move with no choice and also both leaving their friends behind.

    I personally dont LOVE this book, it was too slow for me and it was boring. But, I did like the part of her dad being in the navy.
