It is time for Martina Josefina Catalina Cucaracha, the beautiful muchacha, to find a husband. Her abuela tells her that she needs to give each suitor the “coffee on the shoes” test in order to find a good husband. Who will Martina choose? Will it be Don Gallo the rooster, Don Cerdo the pig, Don Lagarto the lizard or Perez the mouse? How does coffee help Martina? All these are questions answered in this delightfully illustrated Cuban folktale.
I liked the book because it had some puns that had to do with the animals / insects in this book. I didn't like this book because the cacaroach was green and I usualy see only brown.

ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting book is about a cockroach looking for marriage. The way she finds one is crazy. And the idioms are unnoticable until stated out loud. This is a book for all ages. I reccomend it for young readers who have a large imagination.
ReplyDeleteMrs.King read us this book and I thought that it was funny because when she was about to pour the coffee on Perez then he poured the coffee on her beacause he had a Cuban grandma that told him to do that too.

ReplyDeleteI read alot of things I did not know of frogs before I read this book. I did not know frogs were that smart till I read about them. I think that this is a good book to read if you did not know about frogs.

I thought it was an ok book. I didn't like how it started in the begining but as I read on it was really good. I like how she ended up with the mouse. I saw him in the flower pot but i thought it was just a plain picture.I feel sorry for the mouse because he was blind.
ReplyDeleteThis was a good book. My favorite part of the book is when Martina tried to pour the coffee on the mouse's shoes, but when Martina poured it, the mouse pushed the cup back to Martina, and the coffee got on her shoes.
