The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall

The Penderwick girls discover that before their mother died, she left instructions with her sister to make sure her husband, their Dad, remarries. The girls come up with a “Save Daddy Plan” so they will not have to have a stepmother. The plan: get him dates with women they know he will detest. Each girl also deals with her own situations such as Jane doing Skye’s writing assignments, and Batty spying on the new neighbors.

  2. This one is my favorite so far. It's the kind of book that I liked to read when I was younger. The author wrote with such detail that I could feel the emotions of the characters, especially Rosalind, the main character. The "Save Daddy Plan" is funny at times, but sweet in the end. Now I wish I would have read About The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Two Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy first!

  4. This book was adorable. I mean, REALLY! Yet not a book for someone who: has divorced parents, has stagefright, doesn't want a stepmother (or stepfather, for that matter,) or wants to switch homework every once in awile. But it is for someone who likes dogs, stuffed animals, or toddlers.

  7. I thought this was a good book because of how much detail. However I didn't like this book because it had nothing for me to relate to.

  14. I liked this book because the sisters put their father on blind dates with ladies who were horrible. It was funny because he thought he was terrorized at the movies.
